10 Years of NUSTAR

14.10.2013

On October 14, 2003 the NUSTAR Collaboration had the first meeting of its Council and the name or acronym “NUSTAR” (for NUclear STructure, Astrophysics and Reactions) was chosen. Ten years after this event a good fraction of experimental equipment has been successfully developed and produced.

While the construction of the FAIR facility has started only recently, a strong NUSTAR physics program evolved at GSI and other suitable laboratories. Employing NUSTAR instrumentation as early as it becomes available helps the NUSTAR Collaboration to maintain a leading role in global nuclear research until the Super-FRS will become operational at the end of this decade.
