Theme meeting on FAIR Science

The “Theme Meeting on FAIR Science” was organized at the Physics Department of the Panjab University in Chandigarh, India, with financial support from Bose Institute, Kolkata. The aim of the meeting was to engage researchers, students, and science enthusiasts in the exciting fields of heavy-ion physics, nuclear structure physics, astrophysics, as well as medical and biophysics research.

The first two days were dedicated to a general overview on the FAIR facility, the status and physics of the CBM and NUSTAR collaborations, and the Indian contributions to the FAIR project. In addition, The APPA/biophysics activities have been introduced, providing yet another opportunity for collaboration. As part of an outreach activity, students had the opportunity to interact with the experts throughout the event.

On the third day, Principal Investigators and collaborators of CBM and NUSTAR from various Indian institutes together with FAIR/GSI experts discussed the readiness and future plans of CBM and NUSTAR at FAIR. These discussions were of utmost importance as the start of the FAIR facility is in sight and it was stressed that now is the time for students and young researchers to join the groundbreaking research program to be conducted at FAIR.
